"Potential sepsis"

I received an Alpine Health feedback leaflet. I did get an email and text at one point, but I didn't do it then. I thought if it was just a survey, I wouldn't bother. But when I got the letter, I thought it was more personalised and maybe they wanted to know about my experience. I thought if there was stuff they wanted to know, I could talk about it now that everything was done.

Around Easter, I was unwell and went to Mt Beauty Hospital. They were straight onto things, called the doctor in. They treated me for potential sepsis. I had pneumonia and RSV but they did mention they thought I was heading that way, but they acted very quickly and got me on the road. I didn't feel too unwell, but the doctor said he was going to send me to Wodonga by ambulance. They were very quick to recognise something was wrong, and he acted quickly.

I was then transferred to Wodonga. I was in ED for a while and then admitted to a ward.

Firstly, no one should get into trouble. I can't really fault the care. I think it was more the timing. It was Easter, so meals were a bit difficult because everyone was moving around a bit. I still got fed. All the nurses and everyone were very good. But around shift changeovers people were busy, and sometimes you'd end up with a couple of sandwiches - you'd get two quarters of a sandwich. I mean, I was crook, but I didn't feel that bad, so I was a bit hungry. I'm sure if I'd asked for more, they would have gotten me more, so it's not really a complaint.

Alpine Health was also very good and even followed up. On Easter Sunday night, I got a call from the doctor who had seen me at Mt Beauty to check on me. That was very good.
