"Rehabilitation in the home from SCGH"

I was surprised and very gratified when I was contacted and visited by two people from the Rehabilitation in the Home team. It was very soon after I arrived home from hospital. I had had a stroke. Fortunately, only my eyesight had been affected. Patrick a physiotherapist visited me at home and gave me a set of home exercises to build up my movement after being in hospital then referred me to RPH outpatient physiotherapy for further exercise. Patrick was a charming person easy to chat with and informative. I was also visited by Charlie an occupation therapist in the same period time. Charlie reviewed our home set up and proclaimed our home suitable for my current level of functioning. Also, very valuable was her information that it is mandatory for me to inform the Department of Transport of my stroke. Charlie was also a charming person easy to chat with and informative.

What surprised me was that these services are organised for SCGH patients returning home. It is a great service and very helpful as one returns home. I had never heard that such a helpful service existed with charming people carrying out the service
