"Midwifery care at St George hospital"

About: St George Hospital / 1 South Maternity

(as a service user),

A few days after leaving hospital after giving birth, I developed a fever. I took some panadol and felt better. I happened to have a midwife home visit the next day and mentioned my symptoms to Liz, the midwife who visited. Liz assessed me and took my temperature, then recommended I go to the hospital as soon as possible. She called ahead for me so they were expecting me. It turned out I’d developed a blood infection which could have been very serious if left untreated.

It was due to Liz and her expertise that I went straight to the hospital and had the treatment I needed. While at hospital in the subsequent days, Liz came to visit me to see how I was progressing.

I wanted to give a big shout out and thank you to Liz for her care, support and attention to detail.

Gabby, the midwife who worked night shift, was amazing. She was so caring, regularly checked in and helped settle my baby on our first night so I could get a few hours of much needed rest.
