"Care following sepsis"

I was in hospital in April, I had sepsis and I came out like a pin cushion’s, pin cushion. There were times I was off with the pixies, but when I was awake, they were good. They would tell me before each injection; this is for … or we are going to…. I was told it could take until Christmas time to recover. I just take one day at a time. They were all so good, and the food was good. They’ll mostly remember me as a cranky old bird, I do have another condition and one staff member tried to say something about it and I told her off right away and told her to speak to my specialist in Melbourne!

Yes, I did think I was involved in the decisions and if I didn’t like them I told them. Before I went home I got told what to do if I thought I would have a relapse. Did I understand the potential long term effects; well who knows I think I did, but some days I wake up and think ‘woah’. But I am taking each day as it comes. As far as I am aware they communicated well with my family. I think they were really good.

I have home care once a fortnight which is absolutely brilliant. There has been times I have had home nursing as well.
