Disappointing experience.

(as a service user),

My family and I had a negative experience with a staff member who was organising our family member to leave hospital under the HITH program. This staff member was very rude to us, which was also witnessed by 2 health professionals who were present at the time and were also not impressed by their manner.  We felt the staff member wasn’t prepared to listen to us and over talked when we tried to speak. It’s disappointing to know that a staff member in that role can treat people like that, when they are already at a stressful stage of their lives.

I sincerely hope your family member is recovering well and that they have been able to access Hospital in the Home (HITH) services without any further difficulties.

All staff are expected to act professionally, respectfully, and with compassion when coordinating ongoing care for patients and their families. I was disappointed to learn that this may not have been your experience.
