"MAPS program and my prenatal and postnatal experience"

About: Osborne Park Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

From very early in my pregnancy I was under the MAPS program at Osbourne park hospital and it was amazing. I was looked after by Caylin and as a young first time mum it was amazing to be offered the continuity of care that was publicly funded.

Having the same midwife throughout my entire pregnancy and regular check ups that aren’t otherwise offered through the regular GP managed pregnancies was amazing. I also really enjoyed having the 3 day post discharge midwife visits. As a new mum it eased a lot of my anxieties regarding caring for my baby and ensuring that myself and my baby were healing and growing appropriately.

They also ensured any and all of my questions were answered and I also appreciated that Caylin was the person to attend so long as she was available to. It just allowed for that continuity of care as previously mentioned. Overall I think that Osbourne park hospital in general is a great birthing location as the care provided is in my opinion superior to what is available elsewhere under the public system and the MAPS program is a great service available to new mums specifically. I would definitely participate again if I were to have another baby.

Dear crocodileqz67,

Congratulations on the birth of your first baby and thank you for sharing your experience with Caylin and the Midwifery Antenatal Postnatal Service (MAPS) at Osborne Park Hospital. I was delighted to read that you felt so well cared for by Caylin and the continuity of care allowed you to build a rapport ensuring you felt comfortable to discuss any concerns or worries that arose throughout the pregnancy and post-natal journey.

We are very proud of the care and support our MAPS team provide to patients and we’re very lucky to have Caylin as a part of that team. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to her and the wider MAPS team.

Wishing you and your family all the best.

Kind regards,

Karen
