The care at Shanty creek has been above and beyond, just down to things like having a doctor on site every week and a nurse here all week to be there for any medical concerns or advice. The support for struggling mental health issues while going through a time such as detoxing and knowing you have staff here at all times who will support you is reassuring.
At first i was feeling lost and alone and in a dark place, since being at Shanty creek I have learnt tools and had clarity to believe in myself again. I have been around people who are going through the same struggles and realised i am not alone. The staff have helped me in so many ways, my case worker Tania would see through my walls and help break them down, the support workers Sibbie and Brett made me feel comfortable and like i could approach them with any concerns. Suria the team leader has been so understanding and compassionate but also diligent when i came to her with any problems especially if it was a conflict. Nina the new manager since coming to Shanty creek had got to know each resident and listened to them, rewarded us with a fun outing for us all helping out and just made this a really nice place to be.
I can't credit my case worker Tania enough she has gone out of her way to help me with issues even one i was having involving Child Safety, making sure i had visits with my children, a literal shoulder to cry on. Making me feel safe when i was vulnerable. This place has given me the oppurtunity to seek help and not feel ashamed that i needed it. No judgement just support.
