"Fahrs Disease and 16 months waiting for information"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / ASB Level 8 - Neurosciences Ward

(as the patient),

After being admitted to PoW to the cardiology unit for passing out several times a week (all of the staff I saw connected with the Cardiology dept are fantastic and I can't say enough good things about them) I was transferred to Neurology (8th floor) where the nursing staff I saw were a mixed bag of personalities - some brilliant and caring other not so much.

The doctor walked into my room and announced I had Fahrs Disease and said they didn't know anything about the disease and walked out but I could see them in their private clinic. I was grateful I had a friend visiting as I was left dumbfounded.  I felt that the doctor saw me not as a patient but as a revenue source.

Ive since seen the same doctor in the neurology clinic and been left significant underwhelmed, boardering on downright angry as I felt I almost had to put them in a headlock to get elaboration on "eat more salt, and drink more water" - exactly how much more water and how much salt.

I have had good experiences as much as you can when you're sick as a dog but with the Neurology doctor I had the impression that they couldn't have given a stuff as I've done the 24 hour bp monitoring, the neuropsychology examination, the conductive nerve tests and have been waiting 9 months for genetric testing and neura (which the doctor advised would be six months).

Im angry with the neurologist but thankful for all the care Ive had from everyone else at the hospital.
