About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was advised by cowes hub hospital to go to Wonthaggi emergency for a second blood test as they needed a second opinion, I asked if they were ringing Wonthaggi Ed to let them know I was coming and they said yes.

On arrival at Wonthaggi ed I was treated as if I had just turned up off the street and they said they didn't know anything about cowes hub ringing, it took 3 hours to get a blood test done and that was only done because I asked if they could see my records of the previous day at cowes hub, they had to use an ultra sound to find my vein and about half n hour later it blew up, they took cannula out and put ice on and asked me to go wait in reception as they had no beds, by this time i was extremely upset and discharged myself because I felt like they weren't going to be able to help me anyway because there were no beds and I felt I wasn't important enough.

This is the third time I have been to Wonthaggi ed in the last 6 months and either left after 4 hours without seeing a doctor or left unsatisfied.

I now believe the patient care in wonthaggi ed has gone from a 10 to a 3 in my opinion, since being associated with another health service. Based on my experience, I will avoid this emergency department from now on. I feel this is extremely poor service to the community, I will also be going to cowes hub and letting them know how I was treated.
