"Northam Hospital Emergency Department"

About: Northam Health Service / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

A huge thank you to nurses Ricky and Darcy who cared for my 7 year old daughter recently when she was brought in by ambulance after a seizure. They were both amazing in their interactions with her and treated her with care and respect. They kept us informed of her treatment and the plan and made sure I had something to eat and drink during our overnight stay. They always included her in decision making, asked her permission and explained things to her before treatment.

Thank you Ricky and Darcy!!

Dear Grateful Mum83

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and recognise the care provided by Ricky and Darcy.

We are sorry to hear that your daughter experienced a seizure and needed emergency care. We understand how frightening that must have been for both of you.

It is wonderful to hear that Ricky and Darcy made such a positive difference during what was undoubtedly, a stressful time. Treating children and their families with kindness, respect and compassion is at the heart of the care we strive to provide. I am particularly pleased to hear that they took the time to explain treatments, involve your daughter in decisions, seek her permission, and help both of you feel informed and supported throughout your stay.

Thank you also for acknowledging the extra care they provided by making sure your own needs were looked after during the overnight stay. Small acts of kindness can make a significant difference when families are facing unexpected health events.

I will ensure your feedback is shared with Ricky, Darcy and the wider Emergency Department team. Positive feedback such as yours is greatly appreciated and reinforces the importance of person-centred care.

We wish your daughter a continued recovery and thank you again for sharing your experience.

Kind regards

Susan Chambers

District Director, Western Wheatbelt
