(as a parent/guardian),

I arrived at Northam ED with my 4 day old newborn with suspected infected umbilical cord.  We were taken straight in and bub was monitored immediately.  I was talked through everything as is was happening. We saw nurses, drs and the most lovely midwife. It turns out that there was no infection.  The cord had just dried out and had started lifting exposing the stuff underneath that hadn't dried out yet. The ED was busy that night bit the care my baby received was absolutely incredible.  From the very start walking into triage to end of the night leaving the car park, all the staff (including security) were absolutely amazing,  professional, caring, attentive and supportive.

We are delighted to hear that your newborn received such prompt, attentive and compassionate care during what must have been a worrying time for you. Having concerns about your four-day-old baby is understandably stressful, and it is reassuring to know that our team kept you informed throughout the assessment and treatment process.

Your kind words about the nurses, doctors, midwife, security staff and triage team are greatly appreciated. We are proud of the dedication our staff show every day, and it is wonderful to hear that you felt supported, cared for and reassured from the moment you arrived until you left.

We are especially pleased that your baby's umbilical cord was not infected and that the team could provide reassurance and guidance regarding the normal healing process.

Thank you again for recognising the efforts of our staff, particularly during a busy period in the Emergency Department. We will be delighted to share your feedback with the team, as we know it will mean a great deal to them.
