I spent a few nights in Bairnsdale. In all honesty, I was treated extremely well. The staff, it didn’t matter, even the cleaner lady, she was nice. The nurses and everything else, you couldn’t really fault them at all. They were 100% perfect.
If I have one criticism, and only minor, when I went for a CT scan and you have to transfer from the bed onto the moving platform, I struggled. There were four people standing there watching me struggle and I had to ask for help. Whereas when I went to a different hospital, the people saw I was struggling and were right onto it.
Only a minor thing, but the general experience in the four days I was there was just absolutely perfect. Then I had the misfortune to spend another time there more recently for more tests, and I got the same treatment, just 100% perfect.
That shows me that they are consistent.
If they’re aware of it, it’s only a small thing, but I didn’t feel like I should have had to ask. I thought that should be second nature. I was weak from my illness and I just didn’t have the physical strength.
When I was in Bairnsdale, two volunteers came in and asked me about feedback, and I said you’ve caught me at a bad time. I’d love to leave feedback, but not today. They said we understand, somebody will phone you. Well, that was a few weeks ago and they haven’t phoned yet.
When I left Bairnsdale Hospital more recently after being there for another issue, I saw one of the Care Opinion posters and I thought, I can remember that phone number until I get home.
You never seem to hear a good word, so I’m going to start something and I hope others follow. I’ve had a wonderful experience with the ambulance and Orbost as well.
"100% perfect"
