"CMP and Birthing in King Edward’s Birthing Suite"

At the begining of my pregnancy my GP introduced me to the Community Midwife Program (CMP), ran through King Eddie’s. As a first time mum, who wanted guided medical support that would empower me to make my own decisions I jumped at the prospect of using CMP. 

I was so fortunate to have Alice assigned as my midwife. Throughout my pregnancy she provided support that went above and beyond what one would expect in a hospital. She provided continuity of care, a wealth of knowledge regarding pregnancy, labour and care for a newborn, and emotional support. No question was off limits, and as a first time mum this was so incredibly helpful as some questions felt silly; however, never once was I made to feel silly. Alice ensured that she answered all of my queries throughout my appointments, provided a multitude of resources to guide me in making my own decisions. Along with Alice, every midwife I interacted with through the CMP has been nothing short of amazing. Having appointments take place at home & Joondalup  was incredibly conscientious. 

My birth at the Birthing Centre was a surreal experience. Alice, the supporting midwife & my own support team were all aware of my birth plan and did everything to ensure I had the birth and outcome I envisioned. Never once did I have to advocate for myself, or question any procedures that took place. Everything that took place throughout my birth aligned with my birth plan, allowing me to fully focus on having a unmedicated water birth. 

Based on my experience, I think any woman should 100% consider CMP. I cannot advocate for this program enough!!🤍 CMP was the reason I was empowered to be the strongest version of myself during childbirth, and this resulted in a healthy baby and healthy mum. My partner was also in awe of the support we both recieved during pregnancy, labour and postpartum.
