"Regional Paediatric care"

Working in regional Western Australia often makes accessing a paediatrician challenging. Recently, I participated in a paediatric appointment with Dr Emily, who is supporting a family from our school that has experienced significant trauma in their previous interactions with health care providers. Dr Emily was caring, empathetic and compassionate, ensuring the mother felt valued, heard and respected throughout the appointment.

The team facilitated a telehealth consultation for the family, which proved to be highly successful for both the family and the school. The collaboration between the family, school and health services was outstanding and demonstrated the powerful impact that can be achieved when professionals work together. This coordinated approach resulted in an overwhelmingly positive outcome and highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in supporting vulnerable children and families.
