"Concerns for bed-ridden patients"

My concerns is for the bed ridden patients. I have noticed there is continually new staff here that have only been here for 2 or 3 weeks and then they’re gone again – agency nurses, I understand.

To give an example regarding my parent specifically, and I raised this to the DON, my parent didn’t want any men looking after them. After requesting that, they had two foreign men looking after them and they couldn’t understand them. My parent did not like them and did not want them. I gave feedback about it and since then, I’ve recently went in and the two nurses I saw, seemingly didn’t know what they were doing.

I believe it’s not the NUMs fault, it’s the continual new staff. The two staff members on this morning looked at each other and didn’t know how to get my parent out of bed. I understand it’s actually illegal to have the bed on the floor. Goodness knows what would have happened if I wasn’t there.

I think that something has to be done. I used to work in nursing homes, and I didn’t know it was seemingly this bad now. In my opinion, the continual changing of staff is not fair on anyone, staff included.

I want to reiterate, I am placing no blame on any of the staff. All the staff I have seen are lovely, and the DON is lovely, the power to do something is well above the staff.
