About: Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC)

(as a service user),

After a sexual assault I called SARC for advice. I was told there was a year long waitlist for counselling, I wasn’t directed to any other sources of support. Nobody offered guidance on police reporting or anything useful. I’ve since called the crisis line and similar lack of any meaningful follow up or resources.

Thank you for taking the time to share your interaction with the Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) telephone advice line. I’m so sorry for your experience and the lack of support you received during what would have been a very difficult time for you.

We have spoken with the senior staff responsible for management of SARC who have also voiced their disappointment for your experience. Although they acknowledge that you have chosen to remain anonymous with your complaint, they have expressed their willingness to speak with you personally to learn more about your interaction and provide you with the most appropriate assistance. If you feel safe to do so, we would invite you to contact our Consumer Liaison Service (CLS) via email (WNHSCLS@health.wa.gov.au), or telephone (6458 1444). They will be very pleased to act on your behalf to find the most suitable supports and services for your needs, including linking you with senior staff at SARC, if this remained the outcome you were seeking.
