"The website indicating waiting times at various emergency departments"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

After checking the website, it indicated there was one person waiting to see a doctor.  The waiting room was full and triage could only say the wait is 4-5hours. In my opinion, it is probably better to not have the website that gives seemingly false information... I believe no information is in fact better than incorrect information

Dear gogo,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sorry for the confusion and frustration caused by the discrepancy between the NSW Health Emergency Department Waiting Times website and what you experienced in our waiting room. We understand your frustration when you were told a different wait time by the triage nurse.

This discrepancy relates to how the data is captured and displayed within the reporting system, rather than a true reflection of the department at the time. We will raise this matter with the relevant staff member and the reporting agency for follow up maintenance. We'd also like to explain that patients in our Emergency Department are seen by the medical team according to clinical urgency.
