My spouse worked as a pharmacist in melbourne for 40 years. Now my spouse is in their 70s and getting a little bit memory loss. My spouse loved their job and got a very good reputation in this field. They are hardworking and they don't want to just sit at home. Now my spouse is helping one and a half day a week in their friend's pharmacy for a long time being respected by their boss and colleagues and done their job well.
However, recently I brought my spouse to st. George hospital to see a memory doctor, they did some memory test and said my spouse scored over 70 out of 100 marks. That's not too bad! But I believe the doctor misdiagnosed my spouse as having dementia just according to the initial paper test and ordered them to stop work ??! And I believe the doctor threatened my spouse that they would call their boss or APHRA if my spouse goes to work.
My spouse is really upset and hurt because they have been working in this pharmacy for more than 13 years with no mistakes. The doctor suddenly ordered them to stop work without trustable evidence. Poor my spouse couldn't do anything except to tell their boss they need to stop work reluctantly.
My spouse's boss so amazed that requested my spouse continue to help and delay the stop work until the other 2 colleagues come back from holiday in a month. I believe my spouse only a little memory loss because of age but still can handle their job easily. Otherwise their boss won't ask my spouse to continue to work until the following month.
Unfortunately the doctor insisted my spouse to stop work immediately. Imagine my spouse was doing their job for their whole life with good reputation and they really love their job. Now my spouse has to sacrifice their only one & a half day job a week just because of what I feel is the doctor's careless misjudgement. I feel it is completely not fair to my spouse. My spouse likes going out to work but cannot now. The doctor's seemingly unfriendly behaviour and, in my opinion, their careless misdiagnosis is totally unacceptable. Hope St. George can aware this concern. Thanks.
