"Pregnancy and Birth"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I was fortunate enough to give birth to my second baby through the Midwifery Group Program (MGP) with Claire as my main midwife and Jo as my second. The level of care and personal attention was amazing. I preferred the whole experience this time around going public, more so than my first birth through the private system. My birth meant that I was eligible for early discharge. I was somewhat apprehensive about this at first but it meant I was only away from home for 6 hours in total and could get back home to my older child. I had home visits for the first few weeks which was nice to have that ongoing support at home. I would highly recommend the MGP to any woman who is pregnant and wants the best, personal care.

Dear caringzz98

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It is wonderful to hear that your journey through the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) program was such a positive one.

We are delighted that the continuity of care provided by Claire and Jo helped make your pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience feel personal, supportive and reassuring. The relationships built between women and their MGP midwives are a key part of the program, and it is lovely to hear how much you valued this approach.

It is also encouraging to hear that the early discharge program, while initially something you felt apprehensive about, allowed you to return home to your family sooner while still receiving ongoing support through home visits. Providing safe, individualised care that helps families transition confidently to life at home is something our team strives to achieve.

We will be pleased to share your kind words with Claire, Jo and the wider MGP team. Thank you for recommending the program to other women. We wish you and your family all the very best as you enjoy this special time together.

Kind regards,

Karen Horsley
