In August 2024 I was referred to Rockingham hospital for a prolapsed uterus and bladder. I am on the preliminary waitlist, I haven't had an actual appointment or assessment. Early this year I had a call offering me physiotherapy, I assume instead of surgery and was told they could give me a pessary, a plastic device you need to wear permanently for 23 hours a day.
Fortunately my condition is manageable for now without that kind of intervention, surgery is the most effective treatment.
I live in Mandurah but was referred to Rockingham because Peel Health Campus doesn't provide gynaecological services.
I feel the waitlist needs to include people waiting for initial consultation, not just those who have made it onto the surgery list.
