"The difference a known midwife makes 🤍"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had such a positive experience with MGP 2 and feel incredibly grateful for the care I received throughout my pregnancy and birth. Having known midwives made such a difference to me, especially as my pregnancy came with a lot of anxiety and my baby ended up arriving earlier than expected.

Megan and Laura were both so supportive, reassuring and kind, and always made me feel listened to and genuinely cared for. I also had Shannon, a student midwife learning alongside Laura, involved in my care, and she was lovely to have there too. She was kind, supportive and became part of that familiar team around me during such an important time.

Even though my birth didn’t go the way I had originally imagined, I felt very supported through such an overwhelming experience. Having that continuity, familiarity and trust throughout my care meant so much to me.

There is something really bittersweet about having these women beside you through such a vulnerable, emotional and important time in your life, and then suddenly reaching the end of that chapter and knowing you may not see them again. You build such a sense of trust and comfort with them, and I don’t think you realise how much that means until the care comes to an end.

I’m so grateful to Megan, Laura, Shannon and the whole MGP 2 team. I would absolutely recommend MGP and hope more women are able to access this kind of care in the future. I really hope I get to see them again in a future pregnancy, and hopefully finally have the water birth I had hoped for. 🩵
