"Day surgery experience at FSH"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / General Surgery Department & Ward 7A & Ward 7B

(as a service user),

I was admitted to the day surgery unit at FSH after experiencing a miscarriage. I can honestly say that every staff member from my initial Gynaecology consult and ultrasound, to the admission team, the theatre team and finally the nursing team caring for me right before discharge were truly amazing and made me feel so comfortable. I could see how hard they all worked to make sure all patients were cared for to a high standard but also made to feel safe at what can be a scary and daunting time. Please pass my feedback on to the FSH teams working on the day and late shifts within the day surgery unit.

Dear FSH Patient,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I would firstly like to extend my sincere condolences for your loss and acknowledge how kind it was of you to recognise the staff who cared for you during such a difficult time.

I was very pleased to read that you felt safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout your time at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Going through a miscarriage and requiring a procedure can understandably be a difficult and daunting experience, and it is particularly reassuring to hear that the kindness, compassion and support shown by our staff provided you with comfort and reassurance throughout your care.

I will make sure your kind words are shared with the Gynaecology, Day Surgery, Theatre and ward teams involved in your care. I know they will greatly appreciate hearing that their care and support made such a positive difference to your experience.

Thank you again for taking the time to recognise our staff. Your words will mean a great deal to the teams who cared for you and provide meaningful recognition of the compassion they bring to their work each day.

I wish you all the very best with your continued recovery and for the weeks ahead.

Kind regards,

Sara Pearson
