About: Patient Assisted Travel Scheme - WACHS Kimberley

(as a relative),

My adult sibling comes to Broome for Chemotherapy every 6 weeks. When we can we stay at the Aboriginal Hostel it's excellent but when we stay at Broome Time Resort there is a problem.

Yesterday my sibling and I were booked in to Broome Time as a married couple – 1 bed, which is absolutely not okay.

Even being booked in two separate beds but in one room it's still not okay. Protocols and personal space with adult siblings is in place with every culture around the world. Opulence is not a factor so we would like to be booked into 2 separate rooms in the future please.

Thank you.

Dear flutezg44

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent accommodation arrangements through the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS).

I sincerely apologise for the booking error that resulted in you and your sibling being allocated a room with one bed. I also acknowledge your concerns regarding privacy and personal space when travelling with an adult sibling.

Your feedback has highlighted the need for us to better identify and communicate accommodation requirements when arranging travel and accommodation for patients and their escorts. We will review our booking processes to reduce the risk of a similar situation occurring in the future.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Feedback such as yours helps us improve the service we provide to patients and their support persons.

Kind regards,

Paula Jolly
Manager, Patient Assisted Travel Scheme
