"I am elderly lady with an undiagnosed painful conndition"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I live in Korumburra.  I have recently developed a very painful condition that I now think is Polymyalgia Rheumatica.  I was consulting a local GP who admitted he didn’t know what was happening.  He was concerned that I live on my own so said if there are any changes to my symptoms to call an ambulance.  One night I woke in terrible pain, with no idea how to alleviate it.  So I called an ambulance that took me to Wonthaggi hospital, emergency dept.  Straight away I was greated by Dr. Charlie and a nurse Xander, who subsequently looked after me for the duration of my stay.  At all times I was treated with great kindness and compassion. They made sure I understood the procedures and were very professional at all times.  The  atmosphere and ambience in the department was very busy, but quiet and purposeful.  Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

I am sorry to hear about the pain and uncertainty you have been experiencing, however I am very pleased to learn that you felt supported and cared for during your visit to the Wonthaggi Hospital Emergency Department.

Your kind words about Dr Charlie and Nurse Xander are greatly appreciated. Providing compassionate, respectful and person-centred care is at the heart of what our staff strive to deliver every day, and it is wonderful to hear that both clinicians took the time to explain procedures, keep you informed, and support you through what was clearly a difficult situation.

I will ensure your feedback is shared with Dr Charlie, Nurse Xander and the broader Emergency Department team. Positive feedback such as yours is incredibly meaningful and recognises the dedication, professionalism and kindness our staff bring to their work, particularly during busy periods.

On behalf of Bass Coast Health, thank you for your thoughtful acknowledgment of the care you received. We wish you all the very best with your ongoing treatment and recovery.

Kind regards

Kelly
