Between my primary midwife being on leave and having an induced labour, we ended up having all four of the MGP midwives care for us before, during and after labour.
Although initially I was concerned that I would not receive the full benefit of the continuity of care model, I believe now that I received the best possible care that I could have. Each of the midwives were outstanding in their own right, but it was the synergies created when they worked together that created the best possible outcome for our birth experience. I would encourage more MGP teams to be formed to allow more practitioners to become a tight knit team, support each other and complement each other’s strengths.
