"Box Hill - Infectious Disease dept (HIV)"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Infectious diseases

(as a relative),

Service poor. I think there should be more communication between doctor and patient during visit which is apparently lacking. E. g a HIV patient should be given their CD4 count number, not just be told that it is high or low or can't print report. Patient does not seem to get enough information from doctor.

This response has been posted by Patient Opinion on behalf of Eastern Health:

Dear Fanny,

Thank you for raising your concerns in relation to your experience at Box Hill Hospital’s Infections Diseases Unit via the Patient Opinion website.

I apologise that your experience did not meet your expectations and that the communication and information between the doctor and the patient was not sufficient. Eastern Health is doing work to improve the communication and information that is provided to patients and carers as we understand how important it is to get this right and to provide clear and open communication so that patients can understand their health care condition.

Eastern Health is committed to responding to feedback and using patient feedback to improve our services and we would very much appreciate the opportunity to assist you further. I would encourage you to contact our Centre for Patient Experience on 1800 327 8376 or feedback@easternhealth.org.au so we can investigate and address your concerns in detail.

Yours sincerely,

Adjunct Professor David Plunkett

Executive Director Acute Health
