"Two week wait at Box Hill Hospital for a Breast cancer biopsy"

About: Box Hill Hospital Epworth Eastern / Clinical oncology

(as the patient),

Having found a lump in my breast I got an appointment within a week for the Breast Clinic at Box Hill Hospital. The staff there were fantastic.

I was told to go to radiology and book in for a biopsy; I went down there but the earliest I could get an appointment was TWO WEEKS. I was advised that I could try 'over the road' at Epworth Eastern.

I did so, and I had the biopsy done immediately. I am lucky that I had private health cover which meant minimal out of pocket expense for the procedure, but I feel sorry for those who don't.

Two weeks to wait for a biopsy to confirm cancer is APPALLING.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to contact our Centre for Patient Experience on 1800 327 8376 or feedback@easternhealth.org.au so we can investigate your concerns and to offer you a formal explanation.
