I had been placed on a wait list for surgery, I then became an emergency due to my condition worsening significantly. I arrived on the scheduled day only to be waiting ON THE BED for surgery and then got cancelled, it seemed at the last possible minute due to an emergency case that was still in theatre.
I was rescheduled and now have been told that as I am having elective surgery (not elective, EMERGENCY) I should not be surprised if I am cancelled and rescheduled again. This should not be allowed! I tried very calmly to explain this to the woman on the phone who contacted me, however I feel she then put a guilt trip on me by telling me that two category 1 breast cancers are in ahead of me and I should understand that they take priority over my surgery. To my understanding she stated that if I was an emergency case I would be given the same consideration, this is ridiculous! I am an emergency case and I am not being given consideration. My operation is not elective, I am in agony and it's becoming worse. Where do I turn to now when I am likely to be ignored again.
