"Changes at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital lacks compassion."

About: Lake Macquaire Private Hospital

(as the patient),

I have been attending Lake Macquarie Private Hospital for a number of years, and in the past have always found it to be a wonderful, warm, compassionate hospital. Marvellous treatment. However they have made changes that do not seem kind. When going in for Day Surgery you normally always have to wait for up to three hours, and in the past, you could have someone stay with you whilst you waited. Now they have made changes, and it feels like going into a prison. You have to buzz in, and your partner, or support person is no longer allow to wait with you, they have to wait downstairs. This is extremely daunting, as it now means that you have to wait for the surgery by yourself, without support. It just doesn't seem very kind. Looking around, the young people, waiting alone, seemed to me to be very nervous, and daunted without any support. Not allowing people to wait with you, to provide distraction and support, just doesn't seem very compassionate. I have to return in a couple of months and am dreading it. I would like them to change it back to what it was, so you can have support whilst you're waiting.
