"Fear of fellow patient at Logan Hospital"

About: Logan Hospital

(as the patient),

I went into Logan Hospital a little while ago. I was in a ward with both men and women. The first day there all was well. However, there were some discharges during the day and a new admittance. The new admittance we were concerned about. This patient kept going in and out of the ward, always carring a bag and chewing mints. That night, the patient went to sleep and as the light from the corridor was shining on his face, I went and closed his curtain. All was well. Later that night the doctor came in to attend that patient, and woke him up. This was when the trouble began. His manner was threatening, his language was obscene. I mean it was really, atrocious, and he just kept carrying on. At one stage, he seemed to be swing on the curtain around the bed. He eventually seemed to settle down. Then we had a new admittance, and the nurse turned on the ward light instead of just that bed light, and this set the patient off again. It became a really scary situation. I was too frighten to go to sleep, and it seemed to me that no one wanted to do anything about it. When I did go to complain, it was explained they were looking for a room for him, but nothing seemed to come of it. They also said that Security were keeping an eye on it, but if they did, I never saw them. I did not sleep a wink that night, as you're not sure what someone like that will do. Fortunately he left the next day. I discussed it with the lady opposite me, and she too told me she had been very frightened and not slept at all. We felt very vunerable, and I think the hospital needs to review this sort of situation.
