I had a fall and badly injured my ankle. I was close to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, so I went to their emergency. My ankle was x-rayed and the doctor told me that I had a simply sprain and I should be fine after a few days of rest. After a month of apparently no improvement, I went to my GP and he ordered a CT-scan. The scan showed not only a large collection of fluid, but also numerous bone fragments which seem to be impacting the injury. The fragments are likely from an earlier injury as a child. What greatly concerns me is that they seemed to be completely missed by the doctor. Had they been picked up, I believe I could have been referred to the orthopedic section and maybe have had them removed by now. As it is I have to wait to get a consultation with a surgeon.
"Were bone fragments missed in X-ray?"
