"Staff are very special indeed at Box Hill Hospital Emergency Department"

I unfortunately suffered a severe crush injury to my hand and was transported by friends to "Box Hill" Campus of Eastern Health. The care and consideration shown to me the moment I entered the department on a very busy weekend night was exceptional.

A registered nurse approached me immediately on entry to assess the injury, and made the decision that I needed to bypass "Triage" initially for emergency care and mechanical removal of a ring. Once this procedure was completed and nurse "Libby" had taken the basic details of the injury, a temporary dressing was put in place and my "Triage" was revisited.

Over the next 4 hours I benefited from expert treatment with all bases covered. As I have a serious blood disorder as a background condition I have been to many Emergency Departments but have not experienced the exceptional care of "Box Hill" before or indeed since. Hospital Management should be very proud indeed of their front line staff. I would recommend the hospital to anyone needing acute and/or emergency care day or night. If only a few other hospital Emergency Departments spent time at "Box Hill" and take the model home.

Staff make the organization and Box Hill Emergency Department staff are very special indeed.
