"Rapid care received at University Hospital Geelong"

About: Geelong Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Attended ED UHG on a public holiday afternoon after sustaining accidental eye injury at home. Copiously irrigated at time of incident.

Promptly attended to by nursing staff after triage and registration. Brought into treatment area within 4 minutes, but had to wait for available suitable consult room ('eye room') prior to treatment initiation. Eye irrigation commenced at 20 min mark after quick eyeball by ED registrar, who organised the 1L saline irrigation.

Eye exam after irrigation, slit lamp exam with fluorescein stain completed at 40 min mark - confirmed no significant corneal injury. ED consultant re-checked and concurred at 50 min mark.

Rest of time spent waiting for phone clearance by eye registrar; left ED 80 minutes after walking through entrance.
