"Go home they said, get some fresh air"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Epworth Richmond / Neurosciences

(as a parent/guardian),

My adult child came into Box Hill with excruciating headaches, couldn't stand up, was crying in pain. They were told they had pneumonia (although chest x-ray clear) normal bloods. Go home they said. Get some fresh air. My child couldn't stand up, they were reviewed by no senior person.

Good Work ED, my child actually had a terrible leak in their spinal fluids, they are still in Epworth Neurology ward after multiple procedures, where they should have gone first obviously, although Box Hill was the closest. If you don't know what the hell is wrong with someone in so much pain, call the specialist on call.

I am utterly furious.

Will certainly be doing that. My daughter is an adult. Somehow that bit has been edited right out. I will definitely be in touch with all the pathology and letters from specialists when they come through.

I appreciate your response, but yes I am still furious. Anyone that looked at her could have seen she was really really ill. I understand mistakes can happen but this was totally ridiculous and inexcusable. By the way she is STILL in hospital.
