I was advised by my GP to bring in my young child, they had been sick with fevers for 4 days and started to complain of neck pain, amongst other things. We arrived at the emergency department at 1.30 in the afternoon. This was our first time at the Angliss. The triage nurse greeted us friendly and within 45 minutes had completed her triage. I am in the health industry myself with experience in hospitals, so I know 45 minutes is pretty good, especially since we were told that the emergency department was full at the time. She made my toddler feel comfortable in an unfamiliar situation where they weren't feeling well to begin with.
Within another 1.5 hours we were brought through to the paediatric short stay ward, as there was no room in the emergency department and they thought it would be better for my little one to wait on the ward to be seen, they were right! The beautiful and friendly nurse on the ward immediately made friends with my child, showing them the toy box and giving them jelly and apple juice. To top it off, one of the more senior doctors came to see us within another hour. We were in and out of the hospital, included medication and medical certificates before 4.45pm! I will definitely come back to this hospital if the situation ever asks for it.
Thank you to all the staff members for your friendly and caring manner in busy times! Keep up the good work!
