"Disappointing outcome from outpatient clinic"

(as a relative),

My mother is elderly and has attended a Gynaecology outpatient clinic at Eastern Health several times to address a problem that inconveniences her significantly.

At the most recent clinic, she was advised that she needed a test, but I believe the machine was broken and Eastern Health couldn't afford to fix it. She was told that she was added to a waiting list of 112 people.

When she left the clinic we asked about next steps. The receptionist said that she (the receptionist) had been asked to bring my mother's case to the attention of clinicians in a few months.

In other words, nothing was going to happen for my mother and "don't call us, we'll call you". A very disappointing outcome that left her with no path forward.
