"Finding a suitable aged care facility for myself to rest after major ankle surgery"

About: Eastern Health

(as the patient),

My health fund would not cover respite which I needed for 6-8 weeks after major surgery for my ankle which I could not weight bear on for 8 weeks and I couldn't go home as I live by myself and I am a pensioner could not afford to go to special accommodation.

After many weeks of phoning surgeons & GP receptionists I was referred to Eastern Health which within two weeks had found somewhere that I could be placed at a reasonable price and was in the local area before I could be moved to rehabilitation after 8 weeks. The service was excellent and I must compliment your staff member Karyn for getting this set up before my impending operation. It did relieve me of a lot of stress. Thanking you sincerely.

Dear POSEP01

Many thanks for sharing your story with us POSEP01, that's great feedback and I am really pleased to read about your positive experience.

I would be delighted to also drop a line to Karyn to thank her for her excellent work and would be grateful if you could tell me which department she is in. You can write to me confidentially at alan.lilly@easternhealth.org.au or feel free to make another posting to identify the ward or department.

In the meantime, I hope you are continuing to go from strength to strength and thanks again for sharing your story.

Take care and kind regards, Alan Lilly
