I was hoping to thank Jessica, one of the pharmacists at the Ipswich Hospital. I usually go through the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital or The Wesley, but recently moved to the Ipswich area. I was trying to get a hospital prescription from the RBWH for Humira filled at the Ipswich Hospital pharmacy, not realising that the pharmacy was only open to inpatients and outpatients of the hospital.
I had been knocked back by community pharmacies in the past who said they don't stock Humira, and wouldn't order it in as it was so expensive (even though I had PBS approval) and if I didn't pick it up they would have to wear the cost. I spoke to Jessica over the phone regarding my prescription, and she rang the PBS on my behalf and confirmed that I should be able to order it through community pharmacies. She called me back, explained that I should be able to get it locally, advised me to ring around a few pharmacies, and said if I had any trouble I could call back and she'd try to get it through the Ipswich Hospital for me.
Thankfully, I found a pharmacy close to home who regularly stocked the Humira pens and was willing to order in the pre-filled syringes for me. After being knocked back so many times, Jessica was an absolute angel to ring the PBS and follow this up for me, as well as offering to provide further help if I couldn't find a local pharmacy who would order it in for me.
I am so incredibly grateful for her assistance, especially since I wasn't a patient of the hospital, and had to pass my gratitude on to someone. I would be incredibly grateful if this feedback made it back to her (I wasn't able to find an email address for Ipswich Hospital or pharmacy).
