Incomplete Placenta noted after birth. Sent home anyway. Returned 11 days later after passing a blood clot. Stayed 4 hours after being told to fast for a curette. Sent home without a curette. Called 3 days later and told had a serious infection to come in. Went in. Given Antibiotics and sent home. Called same night told they had made an error to come back in to infectious diseases. Stayed 5 hours, blood tests done and sent home. Told to return next day for more blood tests. Returned on 4 days later for Ultrasound. Told to come back in evening to ED dept. Waited 5 hours, 1 blood test sent home. Told to fast for curette next morning. Was called that morning and told they would just wait because no fever present. Meanwhile new born baby being left with grandparent for 5 hours each time being stuffed around for a simple procedure that would take 20 mins.

Dear annoyed

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion. I am very sorry that you have experienced our services in this way and on the basis of what you have described, I can totally understand how you feel.

I am inclined to think that we should review your file in more detail to see what we can learn from your experience and in doing so, ensure that we can prevent or reduce the chance of a recurrence.

It is difficult for me to know the background of your experience without being able to access your file and if you would allow me to do that, I know that I could give you a much more informed response. If you wish to provide your details to me, please email me directly at alan.lilly@easternhealth.org.au - I will respect your decision either way. In any event, I will pass your story on to our Maternity Service for their local review.

I am really sorry that you experienced our services in this way but you can be reassured that I am keen to learn from your experience and see what we can do to make this so much better for the future.

Kind regards and thanks, Alan Lilly
