I was delivered by ambulance to the Emergency Department at Maroondah Hospital with very high blood sugar levels and very low blood pressure. I was promptly seen to and placed in observation, wherein it was determined I was severely dehydrated and had kidney failure.
Soon I was in a ward and undergoing treatment.
After eleven days of treatment, I was discharged with continuing monitoring of my kidney function.
All the staff were friendly, communicative and professional in their dealings.
I particularly appreciated that the nursing staff had to deal with several outright dangerous patients, violent and abusive, but always managed a smile for the next patient.
The catering staff deserve a special mention too! Not only were the meals wonderful, warm, and fresh, they went out of their way to help too, bringing little extras and asking how they could help more. Catering seems to be the butt of unkind jokes - I would be pleased if the kitchen staff could be told how much their work is appreciated!
