"Experience at Maroondah hospital emergency department"

(as a parent/guardian),

My child was admitted to emergency on recently with a broken arm and displaced fracture. The staff were fantastic - from the triage nurse who focused on my child rather than paper work, to the doctor and nurses who dealt with my child and kept us informed, right through to the doctor whose natural instinct was to put himself between us and an aggressive patient as we were transferred to x-ray. Thank you!

Dear thankful parent

Many thanks for sharing your story on Patient Opinion and congratulations, you have told the 100th story since we joined Patient Opinion earlier this year. I was so pleased to read your story and to see that your child was cared for so well and our staff got their priorities just right for you - that's fantastic to see! I also noted your comment with regard to the aggressive patient and I do hope that this patient did not cause you or your child any additional stress at a time that you least needed it. As you may know, we have lots of people presenting to our Emergency Department - about 1 every 10 minutes in fact at Maroondah Hospital - with a range of problems which can also lead to aggression.

I do hope that your child is now on the road to a full recovery and thank you again for taking the time to share your story with us.

Feedback like yours makes a great difference to all of us and I will have great pleasure in sending your story on to our ED staff who will no doubt then have an extra spring in their step. I will send it on to the management team too.
