"Hervey Bay Hospital, ED and switchboard operator"

About: Hervey Bay Hospital

(as a relative),

I had the unfortunate task of ringing Hervey Bay Hospital one night to enquire about a relative who was is the Emergency Department.

My first contact was with a switchboard operator, this experience was the most frustrating experience I have had to deal with. Not only did this employee keep putting my call through to a phone that kept going unanswered, but when I asked them on the 5th attempt to not put me through and place my call through to another staff member, they kept interrupting me and cutting off my conversation and requests.

Finally though after persistence they put my call through to lovely nurse named Tricia, who was wonderful in giving the phone to my relative, so I could speak with them. She also put my mind at rest that everything was being done for my loved one, not to worry.

Being 1200kms away from your loved one with staff constantly cutting you off and then becoming frustrated with requests, this is not a nice place to be in and only increases anxiety!

Tricia your a god send and thank you for your kind words.
