I live in supported accommodation with the service Multicap. Just over a year ago my father sadly past away, he supported me having independence and encouraged my relationship with my boyfriend Brian.
Brian and I have been dating for 35 years and my father helped keep our relationship going even after he was moved to Bundaberg to be closer to his family. When my father passed away all contact between Brian and I stopped and I have not seen or spoken to him since the funeral. Over the past few months I started talking about Brian and telling my carers that I would like to speak to him again, however did not know how to gain contact with him. With the help of my carers, we called many department agencies and eventually found Brian. I have been talking to him most nights and my carers have helped me plan a trip to see him soon. I am so excited to be going to see my boyfriend again, he will get to meet one of my care workers and I'll get to spend as much time as I want with him. We can do puzzles, I'll show him my scrapbook I have been making and tell him all about my pet fish and budgie Timmy. I can’t wait to go see Brian and hug him again. I am so happy and excited that my carers could help me make this possible.
The staff all helped me to find my boyfriend Brian even though I did not know where he lived after he was moved. They helped me find his phone number, then find him and now I am going on holidays to go see him.
