"Maternity booking with Eastern Health Angliss Hospital"

About: Angliss Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

We recently moved to the area and I am in my third trimester. When we spoke to Eastern Health we were advised to get our own obstetrician as the hospital was booked out. When advised of this it was shocking news for us, as we cannot afford to pay for an obstetrician. Had there been more facilities we wouldn't have to go through this. It's really upsetting when this sort of situation arises and it has affected us quite a bit. The system needs to look into all this and consider the patients' situations.

Dear Hash

First of all, many thanks for sharing your story on Patient Opinion. I understand your concerns completely and I have made contact since with the Angliss service to understand the issues more broadly. I now know that we have a number of planned deliveries beyond our usual levels and this is stretching our antenatal resources and in turn, restricting access for you at this time in your pregnancy.

I am planning to discuss this further next week with the Director of the Obstetrics Service but in the meantime, I would like to ask one of our staff to call you to ensure that you are aware of all options at this time.

If you would kindly email me directly at alan.lilly@easternhealth.org.au, I will arrange for one of our staff to call you.

Once again, I am sorry about this inconvenience and understand that this is an issue for you right now. I will provide a further update in due course following my discussions with the Obstetrics service.

I look forward to hearing from you.

kind regards, Alan lilly
