I am a chronic asthma patient with multiple admissions most in quick succession, at the Maroondah Hospital. What amazes me is the way I am treated right from the moment the ambulance rocks up at the emergency bay, to admission in the ED and in my case thereafter transfer to the ward or the ICU depending on my condition.
Since I spent most of the time being admitted at the above ward, I shall concentrate on speaking about my experience in this ward.
To be honest, each time I come here, I feel I am in a private hospital - the care is so good. Mind you, I do have topmost level of private insurance cover, and can choose to go to any private hospital, but am very happy to come here at Maroondah and let the hospital claim from my insurance as a private patient. Frankly, the care is so good that I can hardly see non private patients treated any differently from the treatment I get over here.
The Nursing Unit Manager Chris is a lovely person who is always all ears should there be any issues and she does resolve any problem that comes up with tact and professionalism in a jiffy.
The nurses too are so nice and kind. I love them! Need I say more about them? An overworked tired bunch of people, yet they do their utmost in patient care. Just admirable! ! !
