My uncle was visiting from Wales UK last month and had an unfortunate cardiac arrest in Lilydale just prior to his departure back to the UK with my aunt. He required significant life support and was not expected to live. As most of the family were in the UK they were summoned quickly but could not make it out for several days. The ICU staff were extremely sensitive and informative. They are true professionals and provided excellent support to our aunt and our family. My aunt stayed at the hospital overnight on several occasions during the week to be by her husband and they looked after her too.
The ICU doctor explained the situation with patience and care when the UK family finally arrived to see him. Everything was handled so well. My uncle died when the support was removed and the staff were very comforting to us all.
