"To late to book maternity shared care at Angliss."

About: Angliss Hospital / Maternity Box Hill Hospital / Maternity Service

(as the patient),

I only discovered I was pregnant recently and to my surprise I was already 19 weeks. I went to my GP and was advised to contact the Angliss hospital for my birth and to have midwife or GP shard care. I did as advised but was told both options were completely booked and unavailable to me and that I had to go through an obstetrician which will involve out of pocket costs. Costs I can not afford as I am on a health care card and will be a single parent. I am so upset and do not know what to do.....

I asked if I could go to BoxHill but this was also full. : -(

Dear Jazz,

First of all congratulations on your pregnancy and sorry to read about the issues you have experienced whilst trying to book into the Angliss Hospital. I know that we have many challenges at the moment in this regard as our births are exceeding our usual capacity. I will follow-up with a couple of calls and then get back to you.

In the meantime, please be reassured that I will be in touch.

Kind regards, Alan Lilly.

Dear Jazz

Having made a call to our Maternity Bookings area, I believe that you may have already received a confirmed appointment? Whilst of course your feedback on Patient Opinion is anonymous, when I explained your circumstances, the staff said that it was highly likely that it was for you that an appointment was made for later this week.

If that's the case, that's great news and if not, please email me directly on alan.lilly@easternhealth.org.au and I will follow-up for you.

Kind regards, Alan Lilly
