"Breast cancer scare"

About: Specialist in the Swan Electoral District

(as the patient),

I'm a 30-year-old woman who recently had an ultrasound and biopsy on a breast lump.

The tests had to be done on the day of my father's birthday (he died three years ago of cancer) so you can imagine the emotional state I was in, with sadness mingling with the terror of being told I might have cancer. I was trying to keep it all together after a sleepless night and two weeks of tension over the outcome.

While nothing can really make this medical experience anything other than horrid, the staff at Perth Radiological Clinic at the Mount Medical Centre were incredibly courteous and gentle with me.

I was particularly grateful to the young nurse who kept a reassuring hand on my leg throughout the core biopsy. I managed not to cry, but just barely, and I appreciated her small gesture of support more than I can say.
