"Compassionate and professional staff members"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as the patient),

I was recently an inpatient at SCGH with abdominal pain for investigation. Being an otherwise healthy young person who lives in the country and was only visiting Perth, I have never been a patient of this hospital. Without a clear cut diagnosis from the start about what was causing the acute abdominal pain, I was initially cautious of how staff may perceive what is wrong with me and whether they thought that I might be 'faking it' for pain relief. However, the staff that I came across were nothing short of compassionate, professional and excellent at their jobs. It is very evident as a patient that they are in their jobs because they want to help people and ultimately this shows. A very big thank you to the ED staff and ward D023, from the nurses to the doctors and even all the other staff - there are too many to mention all the different jobs here. I was especially impressed by the good communication between the disciplines and that everyone knew what the plan was for my care - which is great when you hear patient stories about the patient having no idea what test/ investigations are being thrown at them.
