"Lack of courtesy from hospital staff."

About: The Bays Hospital

(as the patient),

I was an inpatient at The Bays Hospital Mornington on for an ureteroscopy.

I pay for top cover Private Hospital Health care, and hence expect a private room for my stay. I have been a frequent inpatient at The Bays, and in the past I have been allotted a private room; but on the last two occasions, I have had to argue with admitting staff as to why I needed to sit disrobed in the Day Surgery waiting room which offered little privacy let alone dignity. Also the night staff were extremely stressed, one nurse replied to my bell requests, which I admit were three, "I will come when I am free; we are extremely busy and you are not the only patient." Also a second nurse let the catheter bag bust and soil the carpet not once but twice through the night and she suggested I "should not drink so much", yet it was my specialist's instructions that I should drink copious quantities of water. To add insult to injury, pain management was very poor at the above hospital and my particular specialist ridiculed me in front of nursing staff by saying, "She will only go home and feed herself", making gestures with his hands of stuffing food into his mouth. I felt extremely angry and I will no longer attend The Bays Hospital or that particular specialist.
